BU Baseball signs WNCC transfer Eurich
BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The Bellevue University baseball team, under head coach Duane Monlux, announced today the signing of 6-0, 190-pound outfielder Stuart Eurich (Elizabeth, Colo.) to a letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic careers at Bellevue beginning in the fall of 2017.
Eurich comes to Bellevue from Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff, Neb. In two seasons with the Cougars he slashed .290/.386/.433 across 210 at-bats. He tapped into his power this season, improving his slugging percentage by over 70 points with a career-high 10 extra-base hits which includes five home runs. From his freshman to sophomore seasons he upped his RBI total from 16 last year to 29 this season.
He attended Elizabeth High School in his hometown where he was a three-year member of the varsity program. He batted .389 with 22 extra-base hits and 47 RBI in 55 career games. As a senior he hit a career-best .444 with a career-high three home runs in just 54 official at-bats.
Eurich joins earlier signees Jonah Yang (OF, Diamond Bar, Calif.), Luke Stratton (OF, Temecula, Calif.), Bailey Link (C/3B/RHP, Chula Vista, Calif.), Caleb Squire (2B, Arvada, Colo.), Jarrod Molnaa (RHP, Kennewick, Wash.), and Conner Sharp (RHP, Port Orchard, Wash.) in the Bruins 2017 recruiting class.
The 2016 Bruins completed their most successful season since 1997, picking up a third place finish at the Avista-NAIA World Series. Bellevue finished with a 54-12 overall record on the season (20-3 North Star Athletic Association) while winning both the league's regular-season and tournament championships. The Bruins won the NAIA Opening Round Davenport Bracket to reach the World Series for the 13th time in program history. The 54 wins by the club are tied for the third most in program history and are the most under Monlux.
Ranked third in the NAIA Preseason Coaches' Poll and chosen as the NSAA favorite in the preseason coaches' poll, Bellevue is off to a 6-4 start this season. The Bruins will play their next 10 games in the Sunshine State beginning with a Saturday twin-bill against Webber International University at noon.
