Bio

Thomas Gillespie enters his first season as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Bellevue University, beginning in August of 2024.

The Georgia native received his bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from Appalachian State University in 2005 and went on to earn a master’s degree in Clinical Exercise Physiology from the University of North Carolina-Charlotte in 2007.

Gillespie began his career as the rehabilitation coordinator at a chiropractic clinic in Florida from 2007-2013. In 2013, he moved to Boise, Idaho, and was employed through St. Luke’s Health System Athletic Training Outreach program. Gillespie’s main assignment for eleven years was head athletic trainer for the Idaho Steelheads Hockey Club. During the 2023-2024 season, Gillespie was selected as the ECHL All-Star Athletic Trainer.

He lives with his wife, Lane, and their two children in Omaha.
