Thompson earns CSC Academic All-District accolades
GREENWOOD, Ind. – The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced its 2025-26 men's basketball Academic All-District teams Tuesday afternoon. Among those honored was Bellevue University's Liam Thompson (Phoenix, Ariz.).
Student-athletes from NCAA Division I, II, and III, as well as the NAIA, were recognized for the honor.
Thompson, a junior forward majoring in Sport Management with a minor in Athletic Coaching, carries a 3.81 cumulative GPA. He started 31 of Bellevue University's 32 games this season and averaged 4.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.9 assists in 26.5 minutes per contest while shooting 51.9 percent from the field. Thompson closed the year with 153 points, 165 rebounds, 60 assists, 26 blocks, and 23 steals, leading the Bruins in blocked shots and ranking fourth on the team in rebounding. He posted a season-high 12 points against Carroll on Feb. 6, grabbed a season-best 10 rebounds versus Montana Western on Feb. 14, and matched a season high with five assists on three occasions. In addition to his CSC Academic All-District selection, Thompson also earned NAIA Scholar-Athlete and Academic all-Frontier Conference honors and was twice named Frontier Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore both academically and athletically. Nominees also must compete in 90 percent of their institution's games or start in at least 66 percent of its contests, while maintaining at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale.
Eligible student-athletes will move on to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, with the Academic All-America teams scheduled to be announced April 14.
The Bruins finished the 2025-26 season with a 24-8 overall record and a 17-5 mark in Frontier Conference play, placing second in the final regular-season standings. Bellevue advanced to the NAIA National Championship Round of 16 in Kansas City, Mo., before falling to Frontier Conference champion Rocky Mountain College, 78-73 in overtime. It marked BU's 22nd appearance in the NAIA National Tournament.
