Heath-Preston added to BU coaching staff
Bellevue University men's soccer head coach Matt Briggs announced today the hiring of former BU standout Mark Heath-Preston as an assistant coach for the Bruins beginning immediately. Heath-Preston replaces Daniel Galvis who left to pursue other professional opportunities.
Bellevue University men's soccer head coach Matt Briggs announced today the hiring of former BU standout Mark Heath-Preston as an assistant coach for the Bruins beginning immediately. Heath-Preston replaces Daniel Galvis who left to pursue other professional opportunities.
A two-time honorable mention All-American, Heath-Preston played four seasons for the Bruins from 2006-2010, earning first team all-MCAC honors on three occasions. He was also named the MCAC Offensive Player of the Year twice while guiding the Bruins to four MCAC championships and two berths in the NAIA National Championships.
Heath-Preston finished his career ranked first in school history in points (107), goals (45), and game-winning goals (15), while ranking second in assists (17) and shots on goal (120).
Briggs stated that Heath-Preston will aid in all aspects of recruiting local and international players as well as taking coaching responsibilities with the entire squad. He will also be in charge of the JV team during their matches in the fall.
The Bruins begin the 2012 season on Sept. 1 with a 7:30 p.m. match at Benedictine (Kan.) College.
