Bruins tabbed as favorites in MCAC Preseason Baseball Poll
POINT LOOKOUT, MO. – The Bellevue University baseball team earned the top spot in the MCAC Baseball Preseason Coaches' Poll released today (Feb. 9).
POINT LOOKOUT, MO. – The Bellevue University baseball team earned the top spot in the MCAC Baseball Preseason Coaches' Poll released today (Feb. 9).
Bellevue, the 2012 MCAC regular season champions, with a 17-3 league record, finished last season with a 40-21 overall record and advanced to the NAIA National Tournament for the second-straight season. The Bruins are ranked 17th in the NAIA Preseason Top 25 Poll.
The Bruins return 2012 MCAC Player of the Year Tanner Moore as well as three first team all-MCAC pitchers in Robert Greco, Michael Calderon, and Kody McFarland. In addition, first team all-conference catcher Ryan Knutz returns behind the plate.
York College, the 2012 MCAC Tournament champions, grabbed the No. 2 position in the preseason coaches' poll after posting a 42-16 overall record (13-7 MCAC) last season. Oklahoma Wesleyan University picked up the third spot in the preseason poll (43-24 overall, 12-8 MCAC in 2012).
Rounding out the rankings are College of the Ozarks (4th), Waldorf College (5th), Central Baptist College (6th) and Central Christian College (7th).
