Siedlik named head coach of Great Plains' PVL Team

OMAHA, Neb. -- In addition to her head coaching duties at Bellevue University, Trish Siedlik has been named the head coach of the Great Plains Volleyball Association's newly-formed team in the USA Premier Volleyball League in an announcement made today by Great Plains' commissioner Sue Maihlot.

The USA PVL is a grass roots professional volleyball league which began competing in 2012 and it will be made up of teams from among the forty (40) regional volleyball associations across the United States.  The USA PVL will be sanctioned by USA Volleyball and will offer tournament play and a League Championship event each year. The Great Plains Region encompasses the entire state of Nebraska.  

In 2013 (and beyond), the PVL will offer tournament play at various USAV Jr. National Qualifiers (JNQ's) in addition to the USA Open National Championships held in Louisville, Ky.  The league championships (after 2012) will take place in conjunction with the USA Volleyball Girls' Jr. National Championship event that is held in various locations throughout the USA.  The goal is to add a men's division in the near future and the league championships for the men will take place at the USA Volleyball Boys' Jr. National Championship event.

The PVL will be led by Commissioner Tom Pingel (Senior Director @ USA Volleyball) and Asst. Commissioner Steve Bishop (Executive Director @ Florida Region of USA Volleyball).  Doug Beal (CEO @ USA Volleyball) is also very involved in the planning and coordination of the PVL.

Current Bruin assistant coach Steve Field will also serve as an assistant coach with the Great Plains PVL squad.

• The team name and mascot will be announced soon. 
• Siedlik recently completed her seventh season as the head coach at Bellevue University. She guided the 2012 Bruins to their sixth-straight appearance in the NAIA Volleyball National Tournament, finishing with a No. 17 final national ranking. Siedlik has amassed a 342-92 (.788) overall record in 11 seasons as a head coach, including a 213-71 (.750) mark in her seven seasons at Bellevue. 
  
• Siedlik has been named the MCAC Coach of the Year eight times during her career.
