Volleyball hosts Ottawa in NAIA Opening Round
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The 23rd-ranked Bellevue University volleyball team will host Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament champion Ottawa University on Saturday, Nov. 17 in the NAIA Volleyball National Championship Opening Round.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The 23rd-ranked Bellevue University volleyball team will host Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament champion Ottawa University on Saturday, Nov. 17 in the NAIA Volleyball National Championship Opening Round.
The match will be played at Bellevue University's Gordon Lozier Athletic Center. Match time is set for 1 p.m.
This will be the second meeting of the season between the two schools. The Bruins defeated Ottawa, 3-1, on Sept. 8 in the Baker Invitational.
The Bruins qualified for the NAIA Volleyball National Championship for the sixth-straight year and for the seventh time in school history. Bellevue owns an 8-14 all-time record in the tournament.
The winner of the Bellevue-Ottawa match will advance to the 24-team NAIA Volleyball National Championship final site in Sioux City, Iowa on Nov. 27-Dec. 1 at the Tyson Event Center/Gateway Arena.
The following teams have received an opening round bye: Biola, Columbia, Concordia, Embry-Riddle (Fla.), Hastings (Neb.), Indiana Wesleyan, Lee (Tenn.), The Master's, Morningside, Oklahoma Baptist, Texas at Brownsville and Westmont.
Bellevue (34-9) won both the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season (13-0) and tournament titles, receiving the league's automatic berth. Bellevue swept Waldorf in the MCAC Tournament championship match last Saturday in Bellevue.
Ottawa defeated Kansas Wesleyan, 3-0, in the KCAC Tournament championship match on Nov. 10 in Ottawa, Kan.
