BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Bellevue University women's soccer coach Andy Nicolarsen announced today the signing of Austin Perez (Hollister, Calif./Cabrillo College/San Benito HS) to a National Letter of Intent to continue her academic and athletic careers at Bellevue beginning in the fall of 2018.
Perez is originally from Hollister, Calif. and comes to Bellevue as a transfer student from Cabrillo (Calif.) College. After sitting out last season as a redshirt she will have three years of eligibility with the Bruins.
At San Benito High School, Perez was a four-year varsity letter-winner and major contributor. She is the sister of former Bruin Victoria Perez (2-time All-NSAA, 2016 NSAA Defensive Player of the Year). Perez intends to pursue a degree in business at BU.
Coach Nicolarsen on Perez:
"Austin has a physical presence on the field. She is fast, strong, and athletic. Her preferred position is on the wing where she can press the defense and open up the field for us. I look forward to having her in the program for the next three years."
Perez joins earlier signees in the 2018 class: Faith Smith (Madison Heights, Va./Liberty University), Sofia Colvin (Edmonds, Wash./Iowa Western CC), Saskia Pepel (Mossingen, Germany/Quenstendt-Gymnasium Mossingen), Maria Flores Tome (Malaga, Spain/Baker), Jacy Dundee (Omaha, Neb./Central HS), Alexis Tolliver (Springfield, Neb./Platteview HS), Nancy Neri (Omaha, Neb./Omaha South HS), and Emily Weyant (Omaha, Neb./Hastings College).
The Bruins finished the 2017 campaign with an 11-5-0 overall record and a 3-1-0 NSAA mark as they advanced to the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Tournament semifinals.
