BARTLESVILLE, Okla. -- Oklahoma Wesleyan completed the series sweep with Bellevue University as the Eagles collected a 78-54 win in MCAC men's basketball action Wednesday night at the Mueller Center.
Bellevue fell to 7-7 overall and 0-2 in the MCAC. OKWU improved to 11-4 on the season and 2-0 in league play. The Eagles defeated Bellevue, 74-68, on Dec. 14, also in Bartlesville.
The Bruins were plagued by poor shooting, hitting just 31.9 percent from the field and 21.1 percent from behind the arc. OKWU drilled 12 3-pointers in the victory.
The Eagles opened up a 14-point (21-7) lead in the first 10 minutes of the game before four-straight free throws by Everett Robinson cut the deficit to 10 points at the eight-minute mark.
OKWU used a 15-5 run capped by a pair of 3-pointers to pull away for a 36-16 advantage and went on to take a 41-23 lead into the intermission.
The Eagles scored the first five points of the second half as OKWU doubled the score at 46-23 with 18 minutes remaining in the contest.
A putback by Goodwin brought the Bruins to within 15 points (58-43) at the nine-minute mark, forcing an Eagle timeout. That was close as BU could get as OKWU closed the game on a 20-11 run, while recording the 78-54 victory.
The Eagles had three players who finished with 15 points, Brian James, Devin Harris, and Tyler Woods.
