KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced today that 1,862 teams have earned the distinction for Scholar-Teams for the 2017-18 academic year.
From Bellevue, the softball, volleyball, women's golf, men's golf, women's basketball, and women's soccer programs were each recognized.
Softball led all Bruin programs with a 3.52 team GPA with volleyball (3.38) and women's golf (3.32) coming second and third, respectively. Men's golf posted a 3.23 GPA, women's basketball recorded a 3.19 GPA, and women's soccer finished the year with a 3.12 GPA.
For a team to be considered for the NAIA Scholar-Team award, it must have a minimum 3.0-grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution. The team grade point average includes all eligible varsity student-athletes.
