Shupe signs with Bruin softball for 2013-14
BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Bellevue University head softball coach Michala Cimino announced the signing of local standout Katy Shupe to a national letter of intent today.
BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Bruin head softball coach Michala Cimino announced today the signing of local standout Katy Shupe (Ralston, Neb./Ralston HS) to a national letter of intent to continue her athletic and academic careers at Bellevue University beginning in the fall of 2013.
Shupe, the daughter of Larry and Sandy Shupe, was a four-year starter at Ralston High School under head coach Bill Heard. She helped lead the Rams to the 2011 Nebraska State Tournament and a third place finish in Class B.
As a senior, she batted .301 with six doubles, one triple, three home runs and 22 RBIs.
An excellent student, Shupe was a member of the National Honor Society.
Shupe joins earlier signees Courtney Schendt (Papillion, Neb./Papillion-LaVista South HS), Sydney Robertson (Omaha, Neb./Millard South HS) and Kaitlyn Goney (Omaha, Neb./Millard South HS) in the 2013-14 recruiting class.
The Bruins finished the 2012 season with a 44-16 overall record and a 13-1 league mark, claiming a share of the MCAC regular season title with No. 4-ranked Central Baptist College. As a team, BU shattered the school record for home runs in a season with 70.
