Lucas Gabriel joins the Bruin coaching staff in 2013-14 as an assistant coach under Shane Paben, after spending the past three seasons as the head assistant coach at Fresno City College in Fresno, Calif.
Gabriel helped guide the Rams to three-straight Central Valley Conference championships as well as the 2012 CCCAA state title. During his stay at FCC, the Rams compiled a record of 88-13 and went undefeated in league play.
He also served as the director of the Academic Support Center for all freshman student-athletes at Fresno City.
Prior to his stint at FCC, Gabriel spent two seasons as an assistant coach at California State University-Chico from 2008-10. He helped lead the Wildcats to their first playoff win since 1995 and helped turn around a program that had won just seven games in each of the three previous seasons.
Gabriel played collegiately at Northern Arizona University where he helped guide the Lumberjacks to back-to-back regular season Big Sky championships and a National Invitational Tournament (NIT) appearance in 2006.
Gabriel graduated from NAU in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in speech communications. He completed his master's degree in education from Chico State in 2010.
Gabriel and his wife, Lindsey were married in August of 2013.
