BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The Bellevue University baseball program under head coach Duane Monlux has announced the signing of Kyle Kinman (Omaha, Neb./Butler CC/Northwest HS) to continue his academic and athletic career at BU.
Kinman earned second team Jayhawk Conference West Region as a sophomore in 2011 after being named the conference's Freshman of the Year in 2010.
"Kyle is a legitimate two-way player. He had two exceptional seasons at Butler Community College in Kansas," said Monlux. "He is a middle of the lineup type hitter that has speed on the bases. He can hit for power and average as well. He is a very good left handed pitcher that we expect to throw a lot of innings for us. We are very pleased to get him back to the Omaha area. It is always nice to get a high caliber player from right here in the Omaha area."
He batted .342 with eight doubles, 10 home runs, 38 RBIs and 41 runs scored in 2010. On the mound, he compiled an 8-2 record with 65 strikeouts in 81.0 innings of work.
Kinman joins Brian Embery (Emporia, Kan./Wayland Baptist/Lower Columbia/Auburn HS) in the 2013 signee class.
The 2012 Bruins finished with a 40-21 overall record, winning the MCAC regular season with a 17-3 mark, advancing the NAIA National Tournament for the second-straight year.
