Junior closer Robert Greco tossed a no-hitter Saturday (June 9) in matchup between Greco's Sedalia Bombers and the Kansas City Monarchs in Collegiate Summer Baseball League action. Sedalia shut out Kansas City, 7-0.
Greco, who plays in the MINK Collegiate Baseball League, struck out 14 and needed just 91 pitches to toss the Bombers' first no-hitter at Liberty Park Stadium-Dey Field while facing the minimum 27 batters. It was the franchise's second-ever no-hitter.
Greco, a first team all-MCAC selection in 2012, was just one pitch away from a perfect game.
The MINK Collegiate Summer Baseball League is made up of some of the top collegiate players from across the country and features features teams from Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, and Kansas.
Teams in the MINK Collegiate Baseball League include: Chillicothe (Mo.) Mudcats, Sedalia (Mo.) Bombers, Nevada (Mo.) Griffons, St. Joseph (Mo.) Mustangs, Ozark (Mo.) Generals, Joplin (Mo.) Outlaws, Clarinda (Iowa) A's, and the Omaha Diamond Spirit.
